And there goes the whistle. Miku's 41st minute stunner proves to be the match winner as Bengaluru defeats Chennaiyin FC 1-0 to pick up all three points on offering.

90+1' Nelson lets one rip with his right foot and forces Gurpreet to make a strong block. Corner to Chennaiyin.

72' What a chance for Chhetri! An inch-perfect ball from the right finds him on the goalmouth but the skipper is unable to control the ball.

69' Serran comes close to making it 2-0 but his header drifts just wide.

67' Germanpreet plays a searching cross towards Jeje but Gurpreet jumps off his line to pluck the ball from the air.

65' Xisco at it again! Udanta plays a lovely ball from the left and Miku makes a cheeky stepover to let the ball roll to Xisco, who's fiery strike takes a deflection.

63' Xisco fires a powerful free-kick from the edge of the box but Mailson makes a fine header to defend the strike.

61' We have just about 30 minutes to go here. Can Bengaluru hold on to get its campaign off to a winning start or will Chennaiyin make a comeback?

59' First change of the match. Anirudh Thapa comes on for Isaac.

57' OUCH! Jerry takes Udanta out with a rather harsh tackle and picks up a yellow card.

57' Corner to Chennaiyin! Gurpreet thwarts the cross away to avert danger.

55' Chhetri has looked a tad off colour tonight, he hasn't had a go at the goal yet.

53' Miku has made a couple of surging runs down the left flank but Chennaiyin captain Alves has been up to the task.

48' Free kick to Chennaiyin from a dangerous position. Nelson drifts a cross in and Gurpreet manages to punch it out only as far as Calderon. The Spaniard heads it into the box and Sabia tries a cheeky backheel but Gurpreet makes an easy save.

HALF-TIME

At half-time, Bengaluru is in the lead courtesy a sweet strike by Miku. Chennaiyin missed two glorious chances (Jeje the culprit both times) and the Bengaluru goal came against the run of play. The prolific Miku makes the best of his chances.

45+1' The end of the half is throwing up chanes on both ends. Nelson's free kick is well-saved by Gurpreet and he plays a beautiful ball into the opposite half, putting Chhetri through, but Karanjit just gets there in time to clear it.

41' The goal came completely against the run of play. Bengaluru couldn't stitch together a good move up until the move. And Miku makes the best of his chances!

41' GOALL! Miku puts Bengaluru in front with a magnificent strike into the top corner.  It was a goal made out of nothing, after an interception in the midfield. Udanta played Miku through, who blasted it past karanjit Singh into the top corner. Could have been fractionally offside. Tough one, though.

38' Nelson could have directed his free-kick to the heads lined up in the box but it's straight at Gurpreet who punches it out.

36' SAVE! Germanpreet intercepts a Nishu Kumar clearance and shoots from distance but Gurpreet makes a good save.

33' ANOTHER CHANCE off a defensive mistake! Rahul Bheke is the culprit again. His backpass is poor and intercepted by Jeje, who can't control it and almost escorts it out of the pitch, stumbling along the way. Bheke has to be careful as well.

30' Bengaluru's slow build-up from the back has been ineffective so far, while Chennaiyin has been quick to bring the ball Bengaluru's half when in possession. Bengaluru hasn't been able to trouble the visitors so far. The chances have been few for both sides.

26' Calderon looks to be in some discomfort. the 36-year-old is receiving medical attention at the moment.

24' Sloppy from both teams at the moment, in attack and defense.

21' With 20 minutes down, the teams' tactics are clear now. Bengaluru are looking to build slowly from the back and Chennaiyin and looking to attack on the counter.

19' MISS! Jeje misses! Chennaiyin started a quick counter attack and Nelson's ball put Jeje through on goal with only Gurpreet to beat. His shot goes wide. The Mizo striker is clearly off target tonight.

18' Paartalu plays a brilliant ball through to Udanta and he wins a corner. The corner is headed away and Chennai is on the counter!!

16' CHANCE! Chennaiyin has a corner kick and Augusto gets his head to it but puts it way wide.

13' Paartalu starts off a dangerous move. Chhetri takes it from the left and after some intricate passing, he tries to slalom his way past defenders in the box, but he's stopped in his tracks.

10' Chennaiyin is into the attack this time! Calderon plays a cross in at the end of a good move, but Khabra is there to clear it.

6' Raphael Augusto's down injured after a challenge from Juanan. He's received medical attention and is okay to continue. 

4' The home team has kept most of the possession so far and shown more intent. Carles Cuadrat will be looking for a win in his first ISL match as head coach.

3' Bengaluru FC is straight into the attack! Erik Paartalu with a shot right down the throat of the goalkeeper after a throw in, but it is saved. 

1' Kick-off! And we're underway in a crucial opening fixture for both teams.

The teams have made their way onto the pitch - the scene of last year's epic ISL final. The national anthems have been played and everyone's ready for the South Indian derby.
