Thomas Bjorn  said being Europe's  Ryder Cup  captain was "easy" because of his "amazing" players as they regained the trophy at  Le Golf National.

Francesco Molinari's fifth win of the week clinched the Ryder Cup for  Europe  on Sunday as he defeated Phil Mickelson to take his team to an unassailable 14.5 points after a dominant display.

And, captain Bjorn was not interested in taking credit for himself, saying that his job was made simple by the efforts of the players.

"This has been easy. They have been amazing. The way they bonded with each other, the things they have done, how they stuck together and did a proper job...," he told  Sky Sports .

"They were determined. They set out to do the job themselves and it was easy to guide them. They wanted this desperately and stood up."

"So many things have happened this week: Francesco and Tommy [Fleetwood], Sergio [Garcia taking a points record], there's so many great stories. It's all down to 12 players."
