Pakistan beats Nepal in SAFF Cup opener

Pakistan made a memorable comeback to international football by pulling off a dramatic 2-1 win over Nepal in its opening match of SAFF Cup on Tuesday.

Muhammad Ali scored the winner in the dying minutes of the match for Pakistan after the scoreline was deadlocked at 1-1.

It was Nepal, which started off well but Pakistan was in the lead at the end of first half. Pakistan was given a penalty after Mohammad Riaz was brought down in the 36th minute, and Hassan Bashir converted from the spot.

There were many chances that came Nepal's way but in the 82nd minute Bimal Magar found the equaliser for Nepal. The joy of sharing points was short-lived for Nepal, when Ali struck the winning goal.

In another match of the day, the host Bangladesh started its campaign by beating Bhutan 2-0 in its opening match. On Thursday, Pakistan takes on Bangladesh while Nepal plays Bhutan.
