Some of the new teams featuring in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for the first time have found themselves in the middle of controversies. But that hasn’t affected their performance and to ensure that everything is in shape, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)’s GM, Cricket Operations, Syed Saba Karim met the team managers of the nine states to discuss about the road ahead.

Some of the association representatives who Sportstar  spoke to claimed that Karim enquired whether the facilities are up to the mark and discussed the roadmap. They also claimed that the state associations were asked to follow the BCCI guidelines strictly. This came after registration of eight players from Puducherry was cancelled by the BCCI after allegations of foul play.

“He (Karim) told all the teams to ensure fair play and also asked all the teams to abide by the guidelines of the BCCI. He also inquired whether everything was fine in terms of facilities,” Topden Lepcha, the team manager of Sikkim, told this publication.

Ahidur Rahman, the secretary of Nagaland Cricket Association, was also present in Anand. “He interacted with the team managers and asked a few things. Maybe, he would have spoken to the officials too, but sadly, there was no official from other states, so, he could not speak to them,” Rahman said.

Karim, however, termed it as a routine visit. “It was a routine visit to see how they are doing. We wanted to meet the representatives and offer some more support and put system in place,” Karim said.
