Simone Biles becomes first American to medal in every event at World Gymnastics Championships

Simone Biles set yet another record on the final day of the World Gymnastics Championships in Doha, Qatar, as she becomes the first American to win a medal in every event at worlds.

Biles, 21, secured the feat with a gold in the floor exercise Saturday; she had previously won gold in the team final, individual all-around and vault in addition to a silver in the uneven bars and bronze in the balance beam.

The Soviet Union’s Yelena Shushunova, in 1987, was the last woman to medal in every event at a single world championships.

The four-time Olympic gold medalist and now 14-time world champion also tied her own record of four gold medals from worlds. Biles' final medal of worlds also tied her with Russia’s Svetlana Khorkina for 20 career world medals, the most by any woman in history. She also became the first four-time world floor champion.

The milestones add to an already impressive resume for Biles coming out of worlds. She also became the first woman to win four all-around world titles Thursday.
