Davis Cupper Ramkumar Ramanathan was beaten 6-4, 6-4 by Kevin Krawietz of Germany in the first round of the €64,000 Challenger tennis tournament in Italy on Tuesday. In the Challenger in Japan, Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan made the doubles quarterfinals with Christopher Rungkat of Indonesia, but Prajnesh Gunneswaran was beaten in straight sets of the singles first round by Laurent Lokoli of France.
Yuki Bhambri beats eighth seed Luke Bambridge of Britian in the second set tie-break to make the third and final qualifying round against Tim Van Rijthoven of the Netherlands in the $50,000 Challenge in Knoxville.
