Maharashtra’s Rutuja Bhosale, Gujarat’s Ankita Raina and Zeel Desai, and Delhi’s Karman Kaur Thandi have been awarded wildcards into the main draw of the $125,000 WTA L&T Mumbai Open, to commence at CCI courts on Friday with the qualifying rounds.
The main draw matches begin on Monday.

Ankita, at 281, is currently the highest ranked Indian singles player in the world. She has won five ITF singles and seven ITF doubles titles. Fed Cup player Karman, 307, is making steady progress up the singles ranking ladder. Rutuja, who returned after playing US college tennis for Texas A&M,made an immediate impact, winning two ITF Futures singles titles. Zeel was India’s highest ranked junior, currently ranked 790 in women’s singles.
Pranjala Yadlapadli and Natasha Palha have been awarded wildcards into the qualifying rounds, joining Nidhi Chulmula and Riya Bhatia. Pranjala takes on top seed Ana Bodgan of Romania, while Natasha will face off against the second seeded Denis Khazaniuk from Israel. Riya will meet France player Alize Lim and Nidhi will play against Anna Morgina of Russia.
