Anju George, Gopichand part of India's Khelo India initiative

Khelo India, a national programme for development of sports, will have eminent Indian sportspersons Anju Bobby George and Pullela Gopichand as members of a committee headed by Sports Secretary Rajiv Yadav.

Anju Bobby George and P. Gopichand have been included as members of the Khelo India , a national programme for development of sports, a prestigious initiative by the Government.

Anju, a renowned long jumper, is India’s only athlete to have won a medal at the World Championships. She recently > resigned as chairperson of the Kerala Sports Council along with 13 other council members in protest against the “ > insulting behaviour ” of Kerala Sports Minister E. P. Jayarajan.

Gopi Chand, a former all-England badminton champion, is noted for his coaching skills. He has trained and mentored Saina Nehwal and P. V. Sindhu.

Anju and Gopichand are the only sportspersons in the seven-member committee which will be headed by Sports Secretary Rajiv Yadav.
