La Liga puts its footstep in Anantapur

The La Liga Foundation and the La Liga women’s football have come together to develop the sport in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The support from Europe’s top professional football league’s foundation will be going to Vicente Ferrer Foundation, which runs the Anantapur Football League (AFL). The AFL is a rural grassroots competition that was started in 2014 by Anantapur Sports Academy, an arm of the Vicente Ferrer Foundation.

The new initiative from La Liga will be bringing together around 2000 boys and girls in the age-group of 11 and 19 from the AFL. The set-up will see the trainees initiated into football while receiving education. As part of the collaboration, coaches and players from the Liga Iberdrola (top league of Spanish women’s football) will be sharing their experiences through a series of videos. These videos will focus on training methods and player development while promoting positive values about the sport.

In addition, various representatives from La Liga, Spanish women’s clubs and the Vicente Ferrer Foundation will visit Anantapur in the latter stages of the project in order to organise joint activities.
