The Bombay High Court has decided to appoint a Committee of Administrators (CoA) at the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) in order to oversee the implementation of the Lodha reforms..

Hearing a petition by Nadeem Memon, representative of the Muslim Sports Club - the club had asked the Court to appoint a CoA since the current regime has overstayed its  tenure - Justice Kemkar asked the MCA and the BCCI to suggest names of  retired judges of either the Supreme Court or the Bombay High Court to be nominated  to the CoA. They have until 3 pm on Wednesday to do so.

Justice Kemkar said the CoA will not only oversee the MCA’s special general meeting (SGM) convened on April 16 - to approve the draft constitution incorporating the Lodha recommendations - but also continue to play its role till such time the Supreme Court order of July 18, 2016, is fully accepted and elections held accordingly.

Justice Kemkar told the MCA advocate,"You should have been gracious and volunteered to suggest an administrator. Powers are with people disqualified by the order of the Supreme Court. Sharad Pawar and Dilip Vengsarkar resigned (as president and vice-president). Many others stand disqualified, and one of them has filed an affidavit.  You are supposed to accept and implement the Lodha recommendations and the Supreme Court order."

Senior Counsel Virag Tulzapurkar, appearing for the BCCI, said: "The MCA says that they are going to have a meeting on April 16, it’s an eyewash. They have done nothing for 18 months.’’
