Left-arm spinner Mehdi Hasan of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is now working on a 'mystery ball' under the guidance of Sri Lankan spin legend and bowling coach of the team, Muttiah Muralitharan.

Mehdi, who has been one of the most consistent performers for Hyderabad in the last domestic season, says he is hopeful that his 'secret' weapon should make him a more dangerous proposition.

"I wanted to learn that one ball from Murali sir. So I am trying to learn many new variations," he said during an interaction, here, on Tuesday.

"I am not worried about my selection in the playing eleven. The bench strength is stronger. I am very positive and I am enjoying the atmosphere in the team. I am doing my process right, even when I am not playing. For, whenever I get a chance, I will be ready for that," he said to a query on the spin duo of Shakib Al Hasan and Rashid Khan, who are most certain to feature in the playing eleven.

"They are big spinners. I am staying very positive. The team winning is more important, not really bothered about my opportunities. I am even talking to these two spinners on how to improve my bowling," the 28-year-old spinner said.

Mehdi, who switched over to spin from pace, because of a niggle in the back when he was in college, thanks to the advice of his coach and former Hyderabad captain Arshad Ayub, says that he loves his team to do well, putting behind his personal goals.

"I must mention here the kind of influence of Bharat Arun Sir (former Hyderabad Ranji coach) had on me during his stint. He was absolutely positive, the inputs put into us, the way he told us to believe in ourselves, made us realise that sky is the limit. The whole thinking has changed a lot for good under him," Mehdi signed off.
