Afghanistan to tour Bangladesh next month

The series provides Afghanistan a chance to brush up its skills against a Test playing nation.

Afghanistan has played two ODIs against Bangladesh, winning the first by 32 runs in the 2014 Asia Cup before losing the next in the World Cup last year.

Afghanistan will play its first bilateral ODI series against Bangladesh in Mirpur, starting next month. The teams will play three ODIs at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed on Sunday. The 50-over matches are scheduled for September 25, 27 and 30.

Nasimullah Danish, Chairman of ACB, said: “This will be the first series between Bangladesh and Afghanistan. We are looking forward for an entertaining cricket to the cricket lovers of Bangladesh.”

"We are very thankful to Bangladesh Cricket Board for hosting Afghanistan National Cricket Team and we are committed to play as many international game as possible. we will learn and deliver good cricket for cricket lovers” Shafiq Stanikzai, CEO of ACB said.

The series provides Afghanistan a chance to brush up its skills against a Test playing nation. Bangladesh has faced Afghanistan twice in ODIs and once in T20Is. Its only T20I clash came during the 2014 World T20 in Bangladesh. In ODIs, Bangladesh lost the first by 32 runs in the 2014 Asia Cup before winning the next in the World Cup last year.

Post the bilateral series, Bangladesh will host England for three ODIs, which will be followed by two Tests.
